Clinton’s industry experience began in 1950 when he joined W.R. Etie Sheet Metal and Heating Company as a supervisor and estimator for the sheet metal operations. After moving to Gowan Mechanical Services in 1963 as a co-owner and officer, he played an integral part in EMCOR’s acquisition of Gowan Mechanical Services.
Clinton has a bachelor’s from the University of Houston and professional licenses as a Texas Air Conditioning Contractor and a NEBB-TAB Supervisor. Among the many technical and professional societies in which he participates are: the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (past president), the Houston Sheet Metal Contractors Association (past president), the Texas Environmental Balancing Bureau (board member and past president), the Sheet Metal Occupational Health Institute Trust (past co-chairman and trustee), the Sheet Metal Workers International Association National Pension Fund (management trustee), and the Employers Council (past director).
He is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, the National Environmental Balancing Bureau, the Construction Specifications Institute, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, the Houston Business Roundtable, and the Houston Chamber of Commerce.
The Personal Side
Clinton is a member of Woodlands United Methodist Church, Woodlands Country Club, the Lochinvar Golf Club, as well as the University of Houston’s Alumni Association, Chancellors Club, and Cougar Club.
